Senior Employee Relations Manager

75,000 - 80,000 per annum

Are you an experienced Employee Relations leader who thrives on leading a strong team?

Someone who can confidently advise senior leaders, navigate sensitive and high-risk ER situations and build constructive relationships?

This is a genuine opportunity to make an impact!

You'll have the autonomy to lead, the complexity to keep you challenged and the opportunity to influence how Employee Relations is delivered across an organisation.

If you're an accomplished ER specialist who enjoys leading people, solving difficult problems, influencing senior stakeholders and improving how organisations handle employee relations, this could be an excellent next move.

This is a fantastic senior role within an established People function, leading the day-to-day delivery of a high-performing Employee Relations service and helping shape a modern, consistent and commercially focused approach to ER.

This is not a role where you'll simply oversee from a distance.

You'll lead an established team of ER professionals, but you'll also remain close to the action — stepping into complex escalations and becoming a trusted expert for senior stakeholders when the stakes are high.

Senior ER Leadership | Complex Employee Relations | Team Leadership

You'll have real scope to influence how Employee Relations is delivered across the organisation. You will lead on the quality, consistency and governance of ER casework, ensuring investigations and formal processes are robust, fair and legally defensible. You'll also be the escalation point for some of the organisation's most complex and sensitive people matters — from disciplinaries, grievances and capability through to bullying and harassment, whistleblowing, senior-level cases and multi-party disputes.

The successful person will play an important role in developing the ER team, strengthening manager capability and identifying trends and recurring issues before they become bigger problems.

Responsibilities:-

  • Providing expert, pragmatic ER and employment law guidance to senior leaders.
  • Overseeing investigations and formal processes including disciplinary, grievance, capability, bullying/harassment and whistleblowing cases.
  • Driving high standards of case management, documentation, governance and quality assurance.
  • Supporting consultation, collective ER matters, disputes and negotiations.
  • Using ER data and trends to spot hotspots, understand root causes and introduce targeted improvements.
  • Working with Legal and external advisers where appropriate, including supporting tribunal-related activity.
  • Continually looking for smarter, more effective ways to improve the ER service and employee experience.

You'll already be operating at a senior level within Employee Relations and will bring significant hands-on experience of managing complex casework.

You'll need the confidence and credibility to work with senior leaders, challenge appropriately and provide clear advice when situations are sensitive, pressured or commercially significant.

Just as importantly, you'll be a strong people leader who can create clarity, raise standards and support an experienced ER team to perform at its best.

You will need:-

  • Significant experience leading an ER function or senior ER team.
  • Extensive complex ER case management experience.
  • Strong employment law knowledge and the ability to translate this into practical, commercial advice.
  • Strong investigation skills and experience handling sensitive or high-risk matters.
  • Experience using ER MI and trends to identify risk and drive improvement.
  • A calm, balanced and resilient approach when dealing with challenging situations.
