Stores Assistant's Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, store and issue materials accurately, ensuring all stock movements are recorded correctly.
- Pick and prepare materials for production, maintain stock levels and support the smooth running of the stores function.
- Check incoming deliveries against purchase orders, reporting any discrepancies or quality issues promptly.
- Prepare and securely pack customer and supplier consignments, ensuring goods are protected during transit.
- Support continuous improvement within the stores department, provide cover for the Stores Supervisor when required, and assist with deliveries, collections and general housekeeping duties.
Skills & Experience Required as a Stores Assistant:
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse or materials handling role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office and stock control systems, alongside strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, a methodical approach and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A valid Forklift Truck licence would be advantageous.
