Job Title: Senior CNC Machinist
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 PA + overtime
This Senior CNC Machinist role is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled CNC professional with strong leadership capability to step into a key position within a rapidly expanding precision engineering environment.
The business specialises in the design, manufacture and assembly of high-precision components and assemblies for the Motorsport, working as an F1 Tier 1 supplier. Working with advanced 5-axis machining centres you will play a central role in delivering complex, high-quality components to exacting standards.
As a Senior CNC Machinist your responsibilities will include:
· Setting, operating and optimising 5-axis CNC machining centres, including Matsuura Fanuc and DMG Mori Lead, mentor and support a small team of machinists, driving high standards in quality, efficiency and workmanship
· Manage daily production activity, workflow, machine utilisation and resources to ensure customer deadlines are met
· Prove out prototype and new production components, providing feedback on tooling, speeds, feeds and cutting strategies
· Read engineering drawings, carry out in-process inspection and ensure tight tolerances, quality procedures and production standards are achieved
· Troubleshoot machining, tooling and production issues while maintaining a safe, organised working environment in line with ISO9001 standards
As a Senior CNC Machinist / Team Leader, you will need:
· Proven CNC machining experience within a precision engineering environment, ideally working on prototype or low-volume, high-complexity components
· Strong 5-axis machining experience, including setting, operating and programming CNC machining centres
· Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls, including probing cycles, kinematics, G-code programming, tooling optimisation and machine setup
· Confident reading engineering drawings, understanding GD&T and using measuring equipment to inspect tight-tolerance components
· Previous senior machinist, team leader or supervisory experience, with the ability to coordinate workloads, manage priorities and solve problems proactivel
