Are you an experienced finance professional with a strong background in manufacturing, product costing and commercial analysis?

We’re recruiting for a Plant Controller to join an established manufacturing business in Peterborough. This is a highly visible position working closely with the Plant Manager and wider site leadership team, providing the financial insight needed to improve performance, control costs and support key operational and investment decisions.

This is much more than a reporting role. You’ll become a genuine finance business partner to the manufacturing operation, using data and analysis to challenge performance, identify opportunities and help drive continuous improvement across the site.

The role

As Plant Controller, you’ll take ownership of plant-level financial performance and provide meaningful insight around manufacturing costs, yield, efficiency, overheads and capital expenditure.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

·      Preparing management reports and target vs actual variance analysis

·      Producing and evaluating forecasts and annual plant budgets

·      Manufacturing and product cost calculations

·      Analysing factory performance across yield, efficiency, overheads and CAPEX

·      Identifying opportunities to optimise manufacturing costs and profitability

·      Reviewing and challenging weekly yield and efficiency reporting

·      Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site

·      Providing financial support around strategic investment and fixed assets

·      Ensuring financial records are accurate, timely and in line with group standards

·      Participating in senior leadership and site performance meetings

·      Providing financial insight and challenge to the Plant Manager and management team

·      Supporting and developing direct reports, ensuring priorities and deliverables are effectively managed

About you

We’re looking for someone who understands the numbers but, importantly, can translate them into meaningful commercial and operational insight.

Ideally, you will have:

·      Around 5 years' controlling experience within a manufacturing environment

·      Strong experience of modern production and manufacturing cost control

·      Knowledge of product costing, variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting

·      Some financial accounting experience, including GL and AP

·      Advanced Excel and BI skills

·      ERP experience, SAP, Infor M3 or similar would be advantageous

·      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·      The confidence to challenge, influence and work closely with senior stakeholders

·      A proactive, independent and commercially minded approach

·      ACCA or CIMA qualification is preferred but not essential

There will also be occasional travel within Europe.
