Job Title: Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Shift: Permanent Night Shift (Continental 3’s & 2’s pattern)

Salary: £50,000 - £54,000 + Overtime

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Multi-skilled Shift Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will suit someone who is confident working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of specialist production equipment. The role combines reactive breakdown support with planned maintenance and continuous improvement work, offering plenty of variety and technical challenge.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on factory equipment (mechanical and electrical)
• Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime
• Liaise closely with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and minimal disruption
• Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
• Assist and supervise external contractors on site
• Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering projects

What We’re Looking for in a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

• Experience working in a multi-skilled engineering role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills (18th edition would be ideal)
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively on shift
• Confident communicator who can collaborate across teams
• A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally
