HR Manager/Business Partner

March, Cambridgeshire | On-Site | £50,000-£65,000

We’re delighted to be partnering with an established manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced HR Manager/Business Partner at an exciting point in its journey.

Employing around 180 people, the business is committed to an ambitious transformation journey, with its people, culture and leadership capability central to its future plans.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced generalist HR professional who enjoys operating both strategically and operationally. Sitting on the Senior Management Team and working closely with the Managing Director and senior leaders, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the People agenda, influence business decisions and build an HR function that supports the organisation’s future growth.

You’ll lead a small HR team, but this is very much a hands-on role. You’ll be visible across the business, building trusted relationships with managers and colleagues while developing the people practices, leadership capability and collaborative culture needed for the next stage of the organisation’s journey.

What You’ll Be Doing as the HR Manager/Business Partner

  • Developing and delivering a People Plan aligned with the organisation’s wider business and transformation strategy
  • Acting as a trusted partner to the Managing Director, Senior Management Team and operational leaders
  • Leading, coaching and developing a small HR team, ensuring a high-quality and commercially focused HR service
  • Supporting and coaching managers to strengthen leadership capability, accountability and people management
  • Leading across the full generalist HR remit, including complex employee relations, performance, absence, organisational change and workforce planning
  • Helping to shape a positive, collaborative culture where colleagues feel engaged, supported and able to develop
  • Strengthening talent, succession, recruitment and development approaches to build capability for the future
  • Using people data and insight to identify trends, influence decisions and drive continuous improvement
  • Ensuring HR policies, processes and systems remain effective, practical and legally compliant

The breadth of the role combines strategic people planning and organisational change with ER, talent, performance, engagement and visible operational support.

What We’re Looking For – HR Manager/Business Partner

  • A strong generalist HR background, ideally gained within a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Experience operating at HR Business Partner or HR Manager level, with the ability to move comfortably between strategy and hands-on delivery
  • The credibility and confidence to work closely with senior leaders, influence decisions and constructively challenge
  • Strong employee relations and UK employment law knowledge, including experience managing complex cases and organisational change
  • Experience developing managers and improving leadership capability
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach, with the ability to translate business priorities into practical people solutions
  • A genuine passion for employee engagement, development and creating a positive workplace culture
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience; manufacturing, FMCG or another operational environment would be advantageous

The role requires someone commercially aware, practical and credible who can build trust, challenge appropriately and turn people strategy into operational action.

Why Join?

This is an exciting time to join a business with real ambition for its future and an opportunity to have a genuine voice in how its people strategy develops.

As an important local employer, the organisation wants to create a workplace where people can build careers, develop their skills and feel part of a collaborative and successful culture.

For the right HR professional, this is an opportunity to do far more than maintain an existing HR function - you’ll help shape what comes next.
