Head of Finance

Peterborough based - Part-Time Finance Director role

Are you a senior finance professional who is looking for a part-time position working 2-3 days week?

I’m pleased to be working with a client in the Peterborough area on a unique role for the not-for-profit sector and am looking for an experience senior finance professional to provide strategic financial leadership on a part-time basis (approximately 2 days per week).

The role

Working closely with senior leadership and a small team, you will play a key role in shaping financial strategy, supporting decision-making, and ensuring strong financial governance.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to long-term strategic planning, including development of a 5-year financial plan
• Provide financial insight to support organisational performance and sustainability
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and governance frameworks
• Support audit processes and stakeholder reporting
• Strengthen financial systems, controls, and processes
• Partner with leadership to drive effective financial decision-making

Key Requirements

• Proven experience at Head of Finance or Financial Controller level
• Strong strategic and commercial acumen
• Experience in SMEs, not-for-profit, or similarly complex environments
• Ability to operate effectively in a part-time, high-impact role
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Working Pattern

• Approximately 2 days per week
• Mix of operational finance and strategic leadership responsibilities
• Salary £60,000 - £65,000 FTE
