Set your Leaders up for success

Hosted by: Katy Walton

The difference our managers and people leaders make to the businesses they work for is significant.

They’re typically the greatest impact on our employees’ experience of work: directly influencing whether they’re engaged or not, whether they want to do the work they’re contracted to do and how well they do it.

You’ve only got to think about the worst manager you’ve ever worked for to know how demoralising it can be. It can take over your whole life.

  • That sinking Sunday evening feeling

  • The heart-pounding when their name pops up on the 27th Teams Call in one morning

  • The look they shoot you, when you know it’s going to lead to another ‘chat’ (aka tearing strips off you)

Aside from the personal impact, let’s consider the business impact of poor people leaders for a second.

You know that your best talent (the ones with the scarce skills, brilliant behaviours, aspiration and drive) are likely to leave. Which means: unsettled teams, performance dips, not to mention the time and cost to replace them.

You know that your solid performers are likely to become disengaged, at great cost to performance and productivity.

So where do you start in trying to avoid this from happening in the first place?

Because most people leaders don’t intentionally set out to disengage and wreck productivity.

In this one-hour whistle stop session, Katy Walton from Make Real Progress will share ideas and tips on:

  • How you develop people leaders to inspire, engage and get the very best from people they work with

  • How else you can set them up for success in their role
